Just Sit Right Back & You'll Hear A Tale...

Recently, Kim and I were having a profound discussion on... TV Tunes and trying to remember obscure old TV shows and their song intro's. I know that you're probably thinking that with me being the mental giant that I am that we would be discussing world politics or the ozone layer or cold fusion or something of the nature, but we were discussing TV show tunes. Sad, I know. So, after much thought and laughter at some of the things we remembered, and the realization that there was, and still is, a bunch of hideous TV that makes it to the airwaves, we've compiled this playlist of TV tunes of old. Sheri, "Facts of Life" for you and Steve-O "Out of This World" for you...I feel pitty for you, but Kim says you loved the show. There are some that you'll remember and some that you'll have forgotten, but one thing is for sure, it will take you back. As for Tricia and Trina, and a few others, many of these will be foreign to you as you are just too young to know. I also realize that there a several more common shows that aren't on here. So, sit right back and enjoy.

P.S.--you may want to launch the stand alone player and view all the songs.

Songs for Heather...

Heather, I put back on some of mine and Kim's favorites. Not a full compilation mind you, but a sampling nonetheless. I hope you enjoy them at work! If you don't like them, we will have to do something about your taste in music.

This one's for Joe...

There are certain things that are so endearing about Joseph, and I will try to let you know of a few as time goes by, but there is something about when this song comes on the radio that makes me laugh. You should see the look on his face. You know that look when the waitor or waitress comes by and takes your plate when you're not finished? You have that one or two bites left that you've saved till the bitter end and then, whish..., it's gone. You just sit there with this look of shock, then disgust. That's the face that appears on Joe's face when this song comes on. Then he "sings" the song (just to make fun of it) and I laugh some more. For some reason, he just doesn't like Pet Shop Boys. Not that he should, but apparently they've done something to him that has wounded him deeply. Well, Joe, this is for you and I hope you enjoy it!

Epiphany...

I had an epiphany today that I would like to share with those who care to listen (or read I guess, as this is a written blog and not a verbal one). Well, I was at work (this is not my epiphany) and like most of us experience from time to time, I had to pee. Not just a casual urge mind you, but a real NEED to pee. So, like a lot of us say at a time like this, I too said these oft heard words: "I have to pee like a racehorse". After uttering these words in my mind, as I have numerous other times, it hit me...What in the heck does it mean to pee like a racehorse??? Who in the world started this ridiculous phrase? I myself have never seen a racehorse pee and therefore with no certainty can accurately compare my urgent need to relieve myself with that of the racehorse. Also, whose to say that a racehorse needs to pee at all? Now let's assume that a racehorse does have an immense desire to pee. Does it relieve himself before or after the race? If the rider makes him wait until after the race, does this constitute animal cruelty? That's another topic altogether! Well, to make a long story short, since I have no first hand knowledge of the pee habits of the said racehorse, my epiphany is this: from this point forward, when I have this urge to pee, I will no longer use the racehorse comparison, I will use a comparison that I am all too familiar with. This is the phrase I suggest we all use: "I have to pee like a guy who really, really has to pee!" Now doesn't that make much more sense than that silly phrase we've all been spouting about all this time? I feel like I've stumbled onto something here. Now that I think of it, what about "For Pete's sake" Who is this "Pete" anyway? And why do we care about his "sake"? And what about "get in your two cents worth"? I don't know about you, but the words that come out of my mouth are worth way more than two cents! I think we just go around saying stupid stuff. What have our parents taught us anyway? We don't even know what comes out of our own mouths! We're just a society of stupid phrases that make absolutely no sense. It's time we stop this foolishness and pull ourselves together. So, the next time you find yourself having to pee like a ra.... just remember to tell yourself that you have to pee like a guy who really, really has to pee. You'll be smarter for doing it.

Another One Bites The Dust

Well, believe it or not, Joseph decided (on his own accord, mind you) that he wanted to get his flowing blonde locks chopped off. So, this evening I took him and Alex to get it done. Alex was there as a model for the stylist to see how short to go. Realize that for Joe to decide to have this done was a shock to Kim and I. His hair was his pride and joy. I am of the opinion that Joe was seeing all his cousins getting haircuts and a couple of them putting them into a mohawk (James started the trend and Rowan soon followed) and, being the last one standing with long hair (Jared Ammon notwithstanding) he wanted to follow suit. Needless to say, though, Kim was extremely please with his decision. But, we did decide that he could keep his hair as long as he wanted until he turned 12. I didn't like that decision at first, but Kim has been trying to help me pick my battles, so I eventually gave in. So, when you see him, please be sure to comment on his hair. He is happy with it, but is a little nervous about what those closest to him will think of it. If you forgot how long it was, take a look at our family picture above and compare. *note, the mohawk needs a little work!

I also have a shout-out...

I just want to follow in Sheri's footsteps and offer a shout-out. I have been racking my brain for 2 weeks trying to get music on my blog, and low and behold I go on Sheri's today and she has music on hers! I actually went on Merilee's blog a week ago and tried to follow in her shoes, but to no avail. Luckily, I already had a playlist created so when Sheri showed me what to do, it was a snap! So, I humbly thank Sheri and Merilee for their services rendered. Without their help, I would still be cursing under my breath. Serenity Now...
